Of Mice and Men

May 2016

Remember all the sheets that were ANNOTATED and put around the room on Tues 10th?

You can find them all here:

Section 1 - The Ketchup Bust Up
Section 2 - The Boss
Section 3 - Dog
Section 4 - Crooks' Room
Section 5 - The Barn
Section 6 - The Ending

See below for the KEY 6 EPISODES (1 from each section) that could be used for lots of PART B questions on Friendship/Status/Dreams/Discrimination/Lives of ranch workers.

May 2015:

11m3 - this is the copy of the KEY EPISODES (1 from each section) that we think could be used for a variety of section (b) themes.  Here are the quotes we found, but remember you could use others.

April 2015:

Y10 UPDATE: Click here if you don't have a copy of your OMAM revision homework. It is also in your emails.  There is NEVER an excuse for not handing in homework on Mondays.

UPDATE: Know your pages and quotes is THE most important piece of revision you can do between now and 20th of May.  Therefore use this key quote resource (you've got a copy!) to orientate yourself around your text!
A collection of useful revision resources for Of Mice and Men

1.  Rusty on the story line?  Check out this 10 minute summary from sparknotes.com:

2. Other great overview websites with a lot information (summary, context, themes etc) are the trusty bitesize and light-hearted shmoop.  If you go to Miss Leslie's blog you'll also find mindmaps and revision quizzes.  Don't have much time?  Well check out 60 second re-caps - which are great short videos  - if a little bit cheesy and overly cheerful!   These tutor2u quizzes are a fairly superficial but easy way to get refamiliar with characters and themes.

3. There are a wealth of brilliant videos on youtube - although be critical about which ones you trust, some are student projects which may vary in quality/validity.

Ones that I really like include, so search for them and have an explore:

4.  Go to AQA to access pastpapers:

    •  English/GCSE/English Literature (exams in 2014) (9710)
    •  Alternatively, you can access all the past papers we've looked at in class if you click here.

5. See my next post on An Inspector Calls for a whole list of ways to revise which will take anywhere from 3minutes --> 45 minutes.

6. Recently (April 2014), we did a lesson on what is the difference between Band 5 and Band 6 work.  We used the Bunkhouse past paer (see folder above).  After, I found a great video from Mr Bruff also talking through this same exemplar.  Check it out:

7.  Here is a great brainstorm if you get a part (b) question on HOPES/DREAMS/AMBITIONS etc - thanks Cole!:

8. Here are some useful character mind-maps courtesy of a student on www.getrevising.co.uk.  Look at them for some interesting (new) ideas for each character, although they need quotes.

8. How about using a youtube video downloader to get a copy of the audiobook so you can listen to Of Mice and Men?  It will certainly help consolidate the plot and help you remember some key quotes!
